This tax relief calculator is designed for small businesses to calculate the rate of relief and associated amount for rates on one or more properties.

You are considered to be a small business if the rateable value of your property is below £ 20,000.00 (£ 28,000.00 in Greater London), if you qualify as a small business and you are not eligible for Small Business Rate Relief, your rates will be calculated using the Small Business multiplier (even if you have multiple properties).

About the Small Business Tax Relief Calculator

1. Small business Rate Relief is applicable if you only use one property, and the rateable value is less than £ 15,000.00.
2. If you have more than one property, you can get Small business Rate Relief if the rateable value of each property is less than £ 2,899.00. In this case the rateable values are added together and any rate relief is applied to the main property. When entering multiple properties the Small Business Tax Relief Calulator will automatically select the property with the highest rateable value as the main property. The total rateable value of all your properties must be less than £ 20,000.00 or less than £ 28,000.00 if your properties are in London.
3. Up to £ 12,000.00 the Small business Rate Relief rate of relief is 100%,
4. Between £ 12,000.00 and £ 15,000.00 the rate gradually decreases from 100% to 0%

Note: if you have one property and buy a second, you will continue to receive the existing small business rate relief on the first property for 12 months, after this, the rate will be calculated based on the multi-property ownership small business rate relief calculation.
